About TasBGAS - Tasmania's largest Group Training Company

TasBGAS, a not-for-profit organisation, registered under the Tasmanian Company's Code as a company not having a share capital and has entered into contractual arrangements with both the Tasmanian and Australian governments regarding the conduct of its business.

TasBGAS is Tasmania's largest group training company in the building and construction industry employing approximately 50 per cent of the 'group training employed' apprentices in that sector.

The Scheme has remained true to its charter and operates exclusively in the building and construction sector, well-recognised as specialists in the field. In doing so we work closely with employers, their representative groups, unions, and TAFE to provide apprentices with an ideal environment in which they can learn and develop their skills as well as make a contribution to their host trainers business.

We place great importance in recruiting young people who have a desire to learn and grow and to secure, for themselves, a viable future in the building and construction industry.

The group training process is a unique, three-way, partnership which, to be successful, relies on the goodwill and best efforts of all three partners. When it succeeds it is richly rewarding on several levels and is indeed a win-win-win situation.

Our Aims and Objectives:

It is the ambition of TasBGAS to raise the standard of apprentice training, create additional tradespeople for the needs of industry and to extend the company to its maximum employment potential. In so doing we will provide young Tasmanians every opportunity of competing for the skilled work opportunities in Australia by:

- Don't have the scope, or the continuity of work to guarantee full employment or
- adequate training for the duration of an apprenticeship.

- Don't wish to confront the administrative obligations of employing an apprentice.

- Have activity peaks or need to replace people temporarily absent from the work
- place.

- Require apprentices for a time at a particular skill level.
